This is the last set of moorings on La Giudecca before the open Lagoon on the way to the railway station. I never saw a boat use this type of mooring, so I'm not sure what they are really used for. Maybe as a type of ballast. You can see what looks like a petro-chemical refinery in the background. Don't worry, the refinery isn't on Venice itself. I think it's on the Italian mainland.
